Formula
Weighted hours = eligible hours × weight. Without a service/kitchen split: one person's allocation = total tip pool × that person's weighted hours ÷ all weighted hours.
With a split, round the service pool to whole cents first and use the exact remainder as the kitchen pool. Apply the same weighted-hours formula inside each pool.
Worked example
With a €100.00 pool, weight 1, and no service/kitchen split, Anna (8), Ben (6), and Cara (7) create 21 weighted hours.
After cent reconciliation, Anna receives €38.10, Ben €28.57, and Cara €33.33; the total remains exactly €100.00.
Transparent distribution
- The calculator creates allocation points from hours × weight for each person.
- Exact shares are calculated and first floored to whole cents.
- Remaining cents go to the largest fractional remainders; input order breaks an exact tie.
- The final reconciliation compares every allocation with the original pool and reports a €0.00 difference.
